I'm using it in the other sense: as in "to some extent, partly or incompletely" - semi-civilized; semi-independent
These don't mean half civilised or half independent; how could one quantify that?
Why don't we settle for "frequent"?
I'm only entering into this in the spirit of the English major, you understand. You know me - I'd never be pedantic about usage of English :-)
