- The Chiefs, Panthers, and Broncos, three teams that figured to be in the playoff mix a month ago, are now officially dead. The Panthers can't run the ball, the Chiefs can't hold on to the ball, and the Broncos defensive secondary is swiss cheese.

- I'm not a Giant fan, but I'll give them props for walking into Carolina and winning. The NFC East is up for grabs. And in Dallas, the honeymoon is over. Let's see how the Cowboys respond.

- When the Saints picked up Drew Brees and Reggie Bush, I figured that would mean a few more wins this year - but not this many. This team is the story of the year, and I'm rooting for them in the NFC. Can you imagine Drew Brees playing in the Super Bowl against the Chargers....wow.

- Rex straightened himself out last night - but I still have questions about the Bear defense. They appear much more vulnerable than earlier in the season. Not bashing them, just not sure they're any better than the Saints, Seahawks, etc. We'll find out come January.

- Speaking of defense, Indy's is in real trouble. Every year, Indy goes into the post-season loaded with weapons, and they lose. This year, they're going to be limping into the playoffs, without Brandon Stokley - hmmmm.

- If Philly somehow makes the post-season, don't be shocked if they make a run. Jeff Garcia has to be one of the most competitive quarterbacks in the NFL. Now...suppose for one minute that Garcia does the unthinkable...leads Philly to the Super Bowl. Who would be the starter next season...hmmm.

- The Ravens are just plain scary. I've never seen a defensive secondary get to a pass as quickly as they do. McNair was near perfect on Sunday. As angry as I was that KC didn't play better, the truth is that the Ravens are a hungry football team. They just don't let up.

- If the Jags could somehow win big games on the road, they'd be a Super Bowl threat

- All of a sudden, everyone is on the Bengal bandwagon, projecting that they're the Steelers of 2006. Not saying Cincy won't go deep - but what the Steelers did last year was something that happens maybe once in 10 years.

- It's too bad that 2nd-half studs like the Titans and the Fish have to wait for next season. They are playing great ball.

- It's official - the Texans are now regretting passing up on Reggie Bush and Vince Carter. Two seasons ago, this franchise thought they were close to competing for the playoffs. Sunday's loss was a painful one.

- If Denny Green survives to coach another year, you can point to that 4th down pass from Hasselback that went for half a yard too short. Meanwhile, Seattle may have lost their chance at a first-round bye and home field beyond the WC round.

- Boy, the Patriots looked bad on Sunday. This team is getting further and further removed from their championship form.

- Sure, Brett Favre looked good on Sunday....but c'mon, it was the 49'ers. If Favre could beat a WINNING team, then maybe I'd be more convinced. I really hope he retires.

- The Raiders still suck....and now Randy Moss has some kind of ankle injury.
