Kevin,

FYI, while not knowing your exact needs:

A while back I had a client ask me to add spell checking to an app I wrote for them. After looking at Word based options and evaluating several different spellcheck addins, I settled on Polar Spellchecker from http://www.polarsoftware.com because trying to use Word in the background was too difficult and unstable. The Polar spellchecker is an ActiveX object that you can tie to Windows controls or that you can use directly. At $239 for one developer including royalty free distribution and source code it was well worth it.

In an rich text box works very nearly like Word with red wavy underlining of misspelled words, right click correction options, and optional user dictionaries. I could make the RTF box work like an editbox or textbox with appropriate settings, so I do spellchecking several places where I don't really want RTF text as well.

Note, however, that I had some glitches with the trial version in VFP, but the full version worked just fine. Their tech support said it was likely interference from some VB component and assured me it would not be a problem with the full version. Their tech support was e-mail only (the company is in Split, Croatia), but was very cooperative.
