VB.Net, unconditionally. The trick is to get a job without experience. .Net is now a somewhat mature market and employers seem to want 2+ years of work experience. It's a Catch-22.

The only other constructive advice I can offer is to buff your SQL Server skills to a fine sheen. Not meaning as a means to a DBA job, most of us don't want to go there (or are unqualified), but as an essential skill in lots of programming jobs. The same thing goes for Oracle knowledge from a developer's POV. Those are skills that cross language barriers.
