If I don't want the child method to call the parent method, I typically put an '*' or NODEFAULT in the code. This is the first time this has happened to me and it has blown me away. Its kinda like being in an earthquake for the first time - after that it is difficult to think of anything as being really solid.
A problem is a problem only as long as it has a possible solution. Lacking that, it becomes a FACT!
