OK - I solved it.
With the risk of appearing really stupid, I'll explain my problem here...for you and others.

I started over and was following the Jump Starts again.
I realized that I had "DS" (the name of the database table) for the database key in ABusinessObject and "Visual DSI Accounting" for the beginning of the connection string in app.config. In the Jump Start example, Northwind was in both places.

That fixed it for me...having Visual DSI Accounting in both places.
