>The recent news: YouTube is a python thing (no java or MS equiv.). Googling on Youtube, python and Guido will get you to the information. Guido (the python guru - now at google - was not even aware of it until a couple of days ago).

While eminently successful, I'ld not say the backend activity is on the level of ebay or amazon or even large shopping cart sites. But who starts out that big<g>.

>Yes you can build decent web apps with interpreters. UT is a sample. YouTube is another one:)
ASP (without .Net) worked on slower HW back when, PHP still does. Deciding IMHO are:
toolset/framework (see Ruby on Rails, sigh),
availability on hosted sites (compared to PHP and nowadays APS.net python is not hosted that often but lightyears ahead of vfp)
speed of development
maintainability

>For information using python as servlet and page-based environment is quite like using vfp for the same matter. A simple interpreter to build, tune up you stuff with a dot prompt (for the learning side), high-end productivity and comfortable batteries included (not the same as VFP but effective ones as well).

It definitely is an interesting language, especially with the addition of classes for a local data engine (SQLite) in 2.5

>Am I the only one here to have switch skillset from VFP to python? Specifically for Web dev.
vfp earns me more $ per H (as I am far more proficient in it *and* from the calibre of clients), but I like python. I'ld do "learning projects" with it, but not with Pearl.
