I can't figure out why my Total number on a report is completely off the mark.

The report has two bands. The total of a column of band1 is a variable that is supposed to SUM a value of a field. The field name is unique to the Band1 (header of the report). Band2 shows detailed items and no totals. But the Sum Total variable prints a much higher number. The "Variable to Store" on the Variables tab of the report designer shows the field name without the alias.

I have the same report without the second band (details) and that one works.

What am I missing?

Thank you.
