the article you pointed me to speaks about boot.ini, however, when i create the boot.ini i get an error indicating that hal.dll is corrupt or damaged.

any thoughts on how to fix hal? i have read some options, but have also read that trying to fix or replace hal does not work.

is there a way to limit the use of RAM by windows in config.sys?
