This morning, reading it on the frontpage of my newspaper, I felt it as an honour, being the owner of two weblogs that often induced heated debates. Now you're spoiling my day. <g>

But I have to admit, you do have a point.

>The magazine isn't out yet so this is based on things I heard on CNN... a related company of Time magazine.
>
>So YOU are Time's "Person of the Year" (if you use the internet to 'publish' content of your own making) on the basis that this is the year that people wrested CONTROL of media from large corporatons.
>
>What a crock of crap
>
>This is nothing more than propaganda to instill in "us" the impression that big media has lost control.
>Believe me, big media is still in FULL CONTROL and they continue to work hard to grow that control even more.
>
>YouTube and FaceBook and blogging are cited as prime examples.
>YouTube is mainly entertainment, and every now and then something gets posted there that catches people's attention. But it really wouldn't have much impact at all if BIG MEDIA didn't mention the item frequently themselves (often for their own purposes).
>Blogging earth-shattering... gimme a break! Blogging is one area where BIG MEDIA sees potential to make some dough, so of course they promote the hell out of it. You may have noticed that all media outlets mention blogging and THEIR BLOGS frequently.
>
>If the majority buy in to Time's pronouncement (that 'we' have taken control of the media) then there's no hope. We will be at the same blissful place that is now occupied by sheep. Sound good?
Groet,
Peter de Valença

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
"There are three types of people: Alphas and Betas", said the beta decisively.
