i sent that in a rush because i had kids demanding breakfast....

i'm not sure how far you got debugging this but i remembered an old fpw app of mine was very slow on some XP machines. It turned out not to be the save itself but the CLEAR READ attempting to flush all tables as the screen closed. The SET AUTOSAVE OFF prevented that happening. Just a thought.
