Personal preference: I really like the clarity and unambiguousness of "=" as an assignment operator and "==" as an equality operator. I believe that I am quite consistent in this usage and adopted it when it was introduced in FoxBase+.

I am currently unaware of problems with this approach. With respect to the SELECT - SQL command I did a quick search for "==" in Tamar Granor's "Taming Visual FoxPro's SQL" and did not notice any cautions.

If there are other considerations I'm most open to learning anything new and useful.
