I don't know if it adds overhead or how much it adds, but my workstation is a 64 bit machine and I have it set to dual boot, and VFP and any apps I write run much faster under XP x64 than under XP x32. Maybe it would run faster if it was 64 bit, but the increase in speed under 64 bit VS 32 bit is impressive. It's almost like unhooking a large heavy trailer on a car as far as the difference in responsiveness and execution speed.

My desktop workstation and my laptop both have the same speed processor, the same FSB speed and the same amount of RAM. The desktop has a fast HD, but in 32 bit windows it's only slightly faster than my laptop. In 64 bit windows it's almost twice as fast as my laptop.

Just to make it clear, both computers have 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 HT processors, with 533 Mhz FSB and 1 GB of RAM. I have a 5400 RPM HD in the laptop and 7200 in the desktop. I have very very close to the same software installed on both, and I actually have more free space on the laptop.

I really wouldn't worry about VFP being 32 bit in 64 bit windows, I just don't see much if anything by way of an issue.
