(foxpro developer since 1990, and visual foxpro developer since 1998, always with local app and dbf..)..But now VFP + MS SQL + Internet= woooou!...and I'm just beginning..!!!

Welcome to the club :).

While I always had the SQL (or now also MySql) server somewhere in the local network, or on the same machine, I once had to write a few forms for an app which was talking to a server somewhere over the web. I literally don't have any idea where the server was, could have been on Mars as far as I'm concerned. It just worked, very smoothly.
