Best old thing I didn't hear when it was new, but it's never too late: "Prelude/Storm" by Man

Same, for albums: first two albums by Deep Purple (which I never heard complete until recently - and which should have disbanded after 4th)

The band with largest number of perfect songs: Akvarium (Boris Grebenshchikov et al)

The perfect acoustic guitar with voice: Leo Kottke in "8 miles high".

OK, if I need to pick something new as well - Flaming Lips and Willie Nile had a few. Not perfect, but quite good.

Presently digging up early Vangelis.
