To prevent the therm bar try SET TALK OFF. Now displaying it on the status bar. It can be done. I remember seeing an article somewhere in one of the FoxPro mags. FoxPro Advisor, I think. I will check later today to see if I can find it. I assume that you would need to include a function within the SQL itself. A no-no in my opinion. I never slow down code unless absolutely necessary. Well, I will drop a line on this thread if I find the article... Steve
