I think this is less true today and has been less true for awhile. I use memo fields in all my apps. I find significant data corruption to be almost nonexistent and it's actually not happened to one of my memo fields at any time I can remember in the last 5 to 7 years. These are apps running anywhere from 10 to 80 users with data ranging into the millions of records. The corruption that does happen is the simple situation where the record count in the header does not match the physical record count, but I use SDT and it has a feature to repair that, so it's no big deal. SQL Server and the like are the definite choices in certain situations, but moving to a client-server backend just because memo fields are needed is not really justified.

>If you have to use memos I DEFINITELY would move to MSSQL as the VFP memo WILL break at some stage, and in some cases they are unrecoverable, with restoration of a backup the only alternative.
