>Greetings and happy new year
>I have a field: name=GlApNum, type=character(6). I would like to assign the value 002010 to the field. If I enter 002010 I get a data type misMatch and it truncates the leading zeros. If I enter "002010", when I dbGetProp, it returns the value "00201. If I enter str(002010), dbGetProp returns str(00. I have the same problem in the properties field and find it necessary to code assign_GlApNum. I can of course remove the "s, but I feel there has to be a way to enter the string value 002010.

In the properties sheet, you can set a property to = (whatever), which is often used to assign problematic values. Perhaps this works here, too?
