Because they have no clue how to spell or pronounce České Budějovice :). Budvar is probably the Hungarian version of the name of the place (the -var being equivalent to -burg, or even -fort), just like Budweis is the German version.

BTW, the place has another important product - Jaroslav Hašek's "Good Soldier Švejk" who was allegedly born there.
