I'm not the one in denial. It is one of the sore spots in the in the american society that I can use to pinpoint to 'blind and ignorant' americans that it is far from a role model to project to the rest of the world. Thereby saying that americans should have an open mind of other, perhaps better, formed societies. The american society, norms and values are not the only viable (nor the best IMO) the world should reflect to.
People should have at least a superficial knowledge about other types of society, whether it is US, Canandian, Britisch, Scandanavian, central european, Eastern european, Russian, Indian, Other asian, African and middle eastern islamic societies, before making comments about international issues. This is IMO seriously lacking and reflecting in the US foreign relations and policy.
And I know. It is far easier for me than most americans. Living so close by a dozen other countries and beeing part of a small development team in 4 countries and having clients in several countries in North america, Europe and Africa I'm likely more able to understand their culture, society and history than one who never needed to look outside of the american one.
