Here are some of Chris Mortenson's (ESPN) predictions from last Sept:

• I didn't drink the Kool Aid on the Cardinals a year ago. I had the cup at my lips in the past week. I decided not to sip. But if that offensive line comes together, watch out.

• The Bengals won't just tear it up offensively, their defense will play at a higher level. The addition of Sam Adams at DT and the return of S Madieu Williams are just two reasons -- also, Bengals defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan doesn't get his due. He will this year.

• Enough good evaluators have convinced me Philip Rivers will get off to an uneven start for the Chargers, which might cost them a playoff spot again, and probably cost Marty Schottenheimer his job.

• Steeler fans, settle down. Yes, your schedule gives you a chance to be a playoff team and defend the title. I just suspect that Willie Parker will wear down as the season moves on.

• Michael Vick may have his "breakout" season; that is if you discount the fact that he has taken the Falcons to the playoffs two out of the last three years, including an NFC championship appearance.

• The Cowboys' defense could be dominant and you can expect a very aggressive offense that will be points on the board. If the Cowboys can protect Drew Bledsoe, it's over. If they struggle with protection, then Tony Romo gets a shot and I still wouldn't dismiss the Cowboys.
