Yea, I guess I could have been a little clearer... whoring is frowned upon in society, but something as twisted as private prisons is lauded. We've come a long way!

Coming a long way brings another thing to mind. Politicians no longer place the wreaths themselves at cenotaphs and such, but the President Ford funeral (the only U.S. president I ever saw in person, less than 50 feet away) brought a new one for me - "honourary pall bearers" who, it turns out, bear nothing yet get to be called pall bearers.
