I have to admit. For me hunting is like cutting off a finger. I've never done it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it if I did.

I can understand the need to hunt if you need it for food. Certainly I'm enough of a hypocrite to admit that I like meat, and I know it doesn't come from bushes. On the other hand, if they came and slaughtered the cow at my table, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't want to eat it.

And finally, the idea of killing for 'sport' simply baffles me.

>I actually went hunting a few times when I was young. Wasn't interested in shooting anything (on purpose) but then I wasn't relying on the meat for survival either. Most hunters actually hunt for sport now and the real sport enthusiasts only go bow hunting. There are still families though who depend on that annual deer for winter meat. Hard to believe, but true. When I was young, the families would get together and hunt and clean and divide up the meat (in Wisconsin in the 60s). Even today, when you eat meat at someone's house in the South, you should always ask what type of meat it is because many will not tell you if it is venison. Sometimes they will even insist it is beef when anyone can tell the difference.

>>>Does the extra speed, weight, and body strength come with the antlers and claws? :0) Let's not forget the sense of smell...
>>
>>Well, can't help the sense of smell, but you know what they say about the speed of the little guy vs the clumsiness of the big guy.
>>
>>But, ok, if you feel that isn't really the way to go, then let's teach the animals to shoot guns or to lay mines.

>>>>>In this I agree 100%. If a home has guns AND children (a no no to begin with and I am strongly FOR the right to bear armss) and the GUNS are not secured so that the children CANNOT access them, it should be CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE. What do you do? Public service? Parenting Classes? Take the children away? Rich celebrities only adopt foreign born babies so these kids would be in the public system until they turn 18...

>>>>Ah... hunting. My other favourite topic. If you want to go out hunting, make it a fair deal. To hunt bear, for example, get yourself a pair of good gloves with claws in the fingers and go to it. For elk or moose, get a hat with a good set of antlers, and have fun.
