Speaking of Richmond and guns, I have a story about my oldest son, Adam. It's not really a drive-by shooting story, but it *is* about a guy with a gun in Richmond. Adam was lucky. He lives in Napa and is a Private Investigator working a big chunk of Northern California (he also has tatoos, but that's got nothing to do with the story <g>) ... he's been doing this for almost 7 years now. A few years ago, he was staking out a residence in Richmond ... in a very unconventional car for a P.I. ... a Mitsubishi 3000GT. P.I.'s don't normally want to draw attention to themselves, but for some reason he was surveilling in this car that day instead of his non-descript car (whatever it was ... I don't remember, he's been through several cars since then & doesn't even have the Mitsu anymore).

Anyway, he's sitting in his car, with the window cracked a bit, smoking a cigarette. A guy on a bicycle comes up to him and asks to bum a cigarette. So, he rolls down the window to hand the guy a cigarette and before he knows it the guy has is arm inside the car with a gun pointing right at his chest! Wanted all the money he had ... Adam doesn't carry much cash around on him and had maybe $30. He gives the guy the money and the guy takes off on his bicycle. Anyway, he calls the cops and when they got there they told him that he was damn lucky that the guy didn't get all pi**ed off for only getting $30 out of the deal and just shoot him right then and steal his car.

Now, he avoids Richmond like the plague! He tells his boss to assign some other investigator to those cases. Of course, Oakland's just as bad and he hasn't been able to get out of going there. <g>
