Believe it or not, I am with you on guns in homes (I am a parent afterall). I removed all weapons from my home as soon as kids who could climb or open cabinets started showing up at my house. Too many teenagers can work around locks these days and it just isn't worth the risk (even youtube has videos on picking locks!). I believe in the right to bear arms, but I think there is just too much casualness out there in regards to weapons. Since they are no longer necessary to survive in the wilderness, the only justification for them is hunting (for only those few who still rely on it and not just for sport) and personal protection (and even there you have to consider how many more accidental deaths occur due to having the weapon than it being used successfully for personal protection). I am curious how many purchased weapon(s) just before y2k?

I have to admit it was rather unsettling to suddenly not have my 9mm immediately available anylonger. I had lived for so long (another lifetime ago now) when I wouldn't consider not having it nearby. Mostly not in this country though.

>>>Somehow I see spotting a deer in the distance, sighting on him and shooting him as less of a sport. At least you have to fight the fish to land him. Shooting a deer through the head doesn't seem much like a fight to me. You shoot him, he drops. Big deal.
>>
>>If it were that easy, I wouldn't have spent as much time in the woods last week. Actually, I am not a big fan of high powered rifle hunting, or even semiautomatic shotgun deer hunting. To better enjoy the sportsmanship aspect, I hunt deer only with a muzzleloader. I wouldn't mind learning to bow hunt, either. But you probably don't care one bit about my hunting practices, do you? ;-)

>>>But not shoot him? Jeez, you're no fun at all.
>>
>>No, unless he broke into my house and threatened my family. That would be killing. Unless I already detained him and decided to shoot him anyway, that would be murder, and I should get the death penalty. Here we go again!

>Are you kidding, I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole, but hey, it is an interesting argument. ;)
