I was *at* the wedding. Not in St. Paul's, of course, but along the route. It was truly romantic. I worked most of that summer in London and was staying at a hotel not far from the procession route along the Strand. At about 5 in the morning I went down there to stake out a good spot and found the sidewalks covered with people who had slept there overnight. Vendors were selling small Union Jacks for about 5p so everyone could wave them for the cameras. Sometime in mid to late morning the first limousines of dignitaries, most festooned with foreign flags I didn't recognize near the front bumper, came by. It was a long procession. Finally Charles and his brother came by in their coach and then Diana in her glass carriage. It was pure fairy tale. They were moving at a pretty good clip so you only saw them for a few seconds after all those hours of standing and waiting, Union Jacks waving madly all around you. It was worth it. No matter what came later, it was being there for a moment in history.

>PBS has shown the entire history of the royal family so many times that anyone whose seen PBS probably knows more about the royals than their own relatives. Also, there have been numerous tv movies about Princess Diana's life. Way back when even the wedding was aired here. Personally, I haven't seen The Queen yet though.

>>We rarely get to see movies these days... but luckily caught this excellent film.

>>It is set in the days around the death of Princess Diana. We learn how the Queen, Prince Charles and the freshly elected Tony Blair deal with the national state of mourning. Great acting and story, both which are difficult when referencing real events and live historical figures. Both Helen Mirren (Queen Elizabeth) and Micheal Sheen (Tony Blair) became their characters for me by the end of the film.

>>Any Americans, or non commonwealth people see the film? I'd be interested if you knew who all the members of the Royal family were?
