Oh, I know who George Strait is. I don't hate country music, but I find I tire of it too easily. In general, when I hear one song more than once, well, that's enough. With jazz, I keep getting new things out of the same pieces each time I listen (assuming, of course, that it's good jazz). If you like George Strait, then I'd suggest some sort of easy jazz. Kevin is a hard bop fan, but I kind of think that it wouldn't be your thing. I think maybe something like "The Modern Jazz Quartet", or some Oscar Peterson. Those are strictly instrumental. For singers, maybe some Madeleine Peyroux - her 'Dreamland' album is a great place to start. Her new album, "Half the Perfect World" is also great, but 'Dreamland' has a couple of numbers that I'm sure you'd like - for instance - "Walking After Midnight". On "Half the Perfect World" she even covers Tom Waits by singing "Heart of Saturday Night".
