Tracy, based on the fact that Jim's got RAID, a HW failure should in theory only be possible if something smoked both his drives (yupp, I have heard of power surges, but something is still running...). So gathering some info should be possible from one of the drives, unless the software nulled areas on both disks.

Yupp, but the problem MAY be tied to C: BEING RAIDED. This is an area for backup or alternate strategy (multiple boot), NOT HW redundancy.

Happened once to my laptop drive. Data recovery is/was often possible, though at horrendous price.
