In fact, non-partisan news have never existed. What we had on TV a generation or two back is probably the closest there's ever been, thanks to the rules that were then in place about equal time and so forth.

However, historically, those who controlled media have always used it to present their own POV. And if you think it's nasty now, look at newspapers from the early US, back when the federalists and the republicans were duking it out.
