To be clear, he never uttered those words himself on that day. It was only in a banner done by the troops (every unit has a specific mission and perhaps that units mission was accomplished????) It's a very slippery slope...

BUT
Bush said to U.S. troops in Qatar on June 5, 2003: "America sent you on a mission to remove a grave threat and to liberate an oppressed people, and that mission has been accomplished."

I will grant him that a grave threat was removed and people were liberated (some permanently). Ok that mission was accomplished. Are they better off? Are there still more or even worse threats? Don't get me started!

Too bad that was only the first mission... He doesn't bother to tell us what the other missions are...

>>The war in Iraq is over. We have won the peace and Iraq is a democracy. Exit stage left. Behind stage glasses of champagne raised and a "well done" is given to the commander in chief, by his loyal staff.

>>Single handedly Bush has dethroned Sadium Hussain, brought democracy to Iraq and the Middle East, as well as ended the war on terror. We are all better off for this venture.
