Can we go back to your original post:

I created a project with the two sample forms you provided and, AFAICS, the menu merging is working as expected - i.e. the 'Save' option from the child form menu is added to the 'File' dropdownitems of the parent form. The only problem seems to be that, as mentioned, the Form2.menuStrip1.Visible needs to be false.

Are you seeing (or expecting to see) something different?
