>>From CBC: "A school program to fight childhood obesity that includes yoga is drawing complaints from some Christian parents in the Quesnel area in B.C.'s Cariboo region. They say yoga is a religion, and shouldn't be taught in public schools."

>Hi Evan,

>Yoga is religion.. Sorry but, This affirmation is totally right..

>The word Yoga, comes from yuj, means link or relink, in the sense to conect again the man to something necessary to his spirit.
>
>The marriage between spirit and substance. It is not by chance that the word religion has the same meaning, both comes from latim religare, that means relink.

>In the same way, the sufism considers the human spirit as an emanation of the the divine, which try for reintegrating. At this point, we can say Yoga is religion by this sense that is a transmition of knowledge, the creation of a behavior code epthical and an spiritual practical.

>Most of these yoga's knowledge runs to the opposite way of what the bible teaches..

But in North America, for most people, yoga is really nothing more than a system of stretching exercises, so to object to it on the basis of being a religion is pretty silly. A lot of people see jogging as a way to get in touch with their inner spirit. Would you bar jogging from the physical education curriculum as a religion?
