I've worked with UPS, not too bad
You can access their data through ODBC and thay have a built in utility that will let you map fields. I supply the address/order information to a file, which is used by the UPS program to populate the order (using a barcoded order #), the shipping information is outputted to another table which I access to find out what was shipped, cost, tracking# etc.
They also have tons of tools to interop with UPS, but you'll have to agree to a 20+ page EULA to use these, but not needed for the above senerio.
