Depends on the situation. Some school choirs do sing gospel music and I don't see a problem with it. It all comes down to the intent. If it is taught as a religious exercise (yoga too), then I have a problem with it. If it's just used strictly as a method to teach sight reading, chords and harmony etc in a music class, then, frankly, I think that's fine. Others might disagree, but that's what makes life interesting.
