Brent was *NOT* terminally ill, to the best of my knowledge. I believe Brent was a (borderline) diabetic -- at least Drew and Irene had asked my wife (who's a CPN and vegan) about candies and treats that Brent could safely eat without driving his blood sugar crazy.
