>Full-text indexing is disabled from the menu(s) in EM. When I try to enable it in the QA I get a message saying Full-Text Search is not installed, or a full-text component cannot be loaded. Is it optional? I installed SQL approximately 5 years ago and can't remember what options I selected or de-selected. Unfortunately, I am about 1250 miles from my SQL install disks.

In MSSQL2000 MSsearch service was needed. In 2005 fulltext engine is installed per instance.
Search is caseinsensitive if you didn't select binary collation. If you did then you could upper() or lower() both sides.
