Thanks Alex,

I was walking through Cost Co the other day and found the D80 on sale with two lenses that seemed like a good price. I think I will go that way.

Thanks again for the info.

>>I was wondering how you liked the D80? I have been looking for a new camera and have been looking at that model and the D200. I am ust not sure the D200 is worth the extra $$$. What are your thoughts?

>I love the D80. If you are just a hobbyist and not a pro, then the D80 will do everything you need. The D80, unlike popular misconception, is not an upgrade from the D70, but a step down from the D200. Therefore is much more powerful than the D70 and almost a D200.

>I went throught the same process and could not jusify the huge price difference for my needs. The D80 is more than fine.

>- Both have 10 MegaPixel res. and the same sensor.
>- D80 does a max shutter speed of 1/4000s, D200 does 1/8000s. Big deal. I have never used anything over 1/1250s.
>- Both take the same lenses and flash units.
>- Continuous drive: D80=3fps, D200=5fps. Not a problem for me. I've used 3fps with birds in flight and it is fine.
>- Memory: D80 takes SD/SDHC cards. D200 takes CF. This could be an issue if you already have an investment in memory of one type or the other.
>- D200 is heavier and sturdier (more metal). D80 is more compact and lighter (more plastic). D80 does not look "cheap". It is just fine with rubberized coating. The grip is excellent and comfortable.
>- Battery: Both use the same battery but the D80 has a much better battery life as the D200 uses much more juice. IOW, one charge will last you a lot longer in the D80.

>For my money and my needs, the D80 is a better buy.
