Allow me to explain why the Colts will play the Saints in the Superbowl according to conspiracy theory logic which so many here are fond of.

This weekend gives us "Peyton trying to cast off the demons of playoffs past" matchup between Indy and New England. The ratings are going to be through the roof as the hype machine is out in full force. People who don't ever watch football except for the Superbowl will actually turn on this game.

Then for the next 2 weeks the NFL hype machine really rachets up the noise for the Superbowl. The problem is if Chicago goes, only one-half of the marketing equation will exist. Either Peyton going for the ring or the Patriots going for 4 of 6, Brady's 4th to match Montana, etc. However, if New Orleans goes we have 2 sides to the equation to market upon. NO has never been there, wonderful for the city after Katrina, etc.

While either Indy or NE vs. NO has the potential to be the highest rated Superbowl ever, only Indy vs. NO virtually locks it in, because you have one additional hype factor to bank on. Peyton playing against his father's former team for the ring.

There you have it. In order to guarantee the greatest number of eyeballs the games will be fixed to ensure that Indy meets New Orleans for the most hyped (read profitable) Superbowl ever.

Either that or the better teams will win.

>You may be right, but I'd most like to see the Colts vs the Saints.

>>No matter what happens this weekend, I think we have potential for a great Super Bowl. I'm still standing by my pick of New England.
>>
>>>I'm listening to NFL radio on Sirius now. The one thing they say, and I agree with, is that this weekends games change the predictions going into the playoffs.
>>>
>>>Most, if not all, gave the SB to the AFC champ. Noone from the NFC could beat Balt or SD. Today, I could easily put NO up against either Indy or NE.
