There was a Memphis connection to Kaufman and his wrestling. The wrestler he got into a tussle with was Jerry "The King" Lawler, from Memphis. Lawler recently admitted that his slapping Kaufman was a setup for publicity. I knew that when it happened because that's the way wrestling works. It's a "sport" for the uneducated, thereby making Memphis a hotbed of wrestling fans.
