Hmmm, I'd argue that it doesn't. There's no way of telling from the photo if it's a tiddler of a wave hitting a 5' rock, or a large swell hitting a cliff.

>But it is also the only part of the photo which provides perspective. Without the horizon, you cannot tell how large the rocks are or the swell.

>>>Sure. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Of course, recommending a pellet gun is not exactly constructive criticism {g}

>>OK. to be quite honest, the spray doesn't inspire. Maybe the seas don't get rough enough down there in paradise. I can just picture the sea hitting the marina breakwater here, during windy weather, or blow holes in Cornwall's craggy coast. Composition-wise though it's "swell" (geddit?). However, I wouldn't have included the horizon and the rest of the ocean - it detracts from the focus of attention - just fill the view with the subject - everyone "knows" there's an horizon out there and doesn't need to be shown it. Of course, it's different when photographing a sunset!
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
