>>But does it work? I mean, sure, you can filter someone, but you still kind of end up seeing what they said as their posts are replied to by someone else. And a twit filter is really harsh. It seems to me we need to learn to deal with people in other ways. I got filtered on a site awhile back by someone and it was just because I had a different opinion than him. I never said anything offensive and I offered logical arguments about what I was saying (and the topic was only about whether one should "top post" - as I'm doing here - "bottom post", or post between quotes of what the other person has said). Now who was the twit in that situation? I believe it was the person that filtered me. I wish there wasn't a twit filter. I'd rather have us work harder at being reasonable with each other. Some have a harder time with that than others - and I've lost my temper before - but I'm not convinced a twit filter is the answer.

Basically, it boils down to the board's purpose. Someone posting openly provocative messages dilutes the stated purpose (technical discussion in this case), but ironically it may have some marketing value.
