FWIW we had experience with Cache between 1999 and 2000. In 2001 we persuaded the customer to move our data to SQL Server and a whole slew of issues vanished. I think part of the problem was that we did not fully understand the arcane Cache scripting and relied on the customer's own expert. The site has been very easy to maintain with the data in SQL Server though they still have large amounts of data in Cache and apparently it all works well.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
