Thanks for your reply, Kamal- This cursor SELECT's one row at a time, so Row buffering is used. Yes, Key and Modified fields is checked, Send Updates (my understanding is that TABLEUPDATE() sends the INSERT statement automatically for new rows added), also the Connection is shared. All the other Views in this application seem to work OK.

One problem I've had, is with Default values. None of the columns use NULL values, however when APPEND BLANK is issued each column defaults to NULL. This creates an error, obviously, unless each field is then initialized. IOW, both OLDVAL() and CURVAL() of each field is NULL. Yet, Defaults have been assigned in SQL Server but apparently these defaults don't carry over when Append-ing a Blank in VFP- ?? I'm not sure if this issue is connected to the slow Insert's but may be related.
