Hi Walter,

>huh... In every western country I know of, except the US it works that way. In holland virtually everyone is insured and everyone can get medical care. And we are a rich western country with very modern medical care that also cost a lot. So could anyone explain me why such thing could not be accomplished in the US

An interesting issue. The US has currently, just now, a VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM with medical care. I'd love to migrate the the US but for sure I'd consider it if the whole family is healthy!

If you compare with Netherlands, Belgium or France (and a few others), it looks like a mess. US is lacking an efficient public system. For some political questions that can be only handled and cured the american problems.

There is a lot writing and harsh political bargaining on the subject.

But for sure, a lot of the middle-class american have lost the very decent medical benefits they used to get from their employers.

As opposed to most European countries where base medical care has become a right for every citizen, enforced by some state authorities.

The US system has been entirely de-regulated, in a liberal way. This recent de-regulated sector is producing havoc. Possibly it may improve since the whole thing is new. But it it not obvious from what I could read on the subject.

As opposed to Europe, where being in a medical position is career choice, but certainly not the way to wealth, even the most basic positions in the "Medical industry" are financial rewarding in the states.

In US you should be in the medical, legal or finance sector. Certainly not in software, engineering or, worst of all, industry. America has changed in a big way. Possibly not the best one in a sense.

Do not get it wrong. I love America. The US is the great place to live and work... but - in view of the current situation - for the wealthy or the healthy.

François
