visually setting relns of the tables in the DE as described does actually set these values in the grid, if I remember correctly: one of the advantages of visual building.

You seem to be doing everything OK. As you said, you ported from VFP8 (where it worked fine) to 9, and I see you have SP1, so I don't know what more I can add, still being in a 7 backwater and not knowing many of the vaguaries of 9.
