>5. Patients unable to afford medical care going to emergency rooms of hospitals. This drives up the cost of patient care as paying customers make up the difference for those unable to pay.

>7. Good old American based protestant ethics. Every dog for himself/herself.

>8. Oh I almost forgot payments to politicians for "favors" by some of the above.
9. and the idea that it will be cheaper if we insert a few layers of middlemen.
