>>Off subject, I watched Hillary a few times now over the weekend and on morning shows this week. I cannot believe I am writing this, but I actually agreed with 85-90% of her views.

>I'm quite sure I'd be a Democrat in your country and Hillary has my sympathy. Having said that, it's one common strategy in campaigns (there are other strategies too) to begin with merely expressing 'points of view' that are known to be shared by almost all, if not all, people. It must give the people the feeling that this is a trustworthy person with common sense and good ideas. After having established that reputation, the less popular points of view can be brought to the public. In order to maintain the idea that we're dealing here with a trustworthy person, the public will unconsciously accept those povs also, even if they did not beforehand.

Obama is a local guy and is the real deal IMO. It's highly likely I will get off my duff and campaign for him. I'm just afraid there will be so much money behind Hillary he won't be able to stop her. Money drives American politics to an extent you might not believe.

For anyone interested in how the wind may blow within the Democratic party, Rahm Emanuel is someone to watch. He is somewhat caught in the middle and I'm sure will avoid expressing any preference between Hillary and Barack if he can. (I think he has Presidential aspirations of his own, although not this time around). He has close ties to both of them. He was a key figure in Bill Clinton's campaign and on his White House staff. He is in the House of Representatives now and is widely credited for helping the Democrats do so well in Novemmber. He is also close with Obama. If he gives any signal of support for either one, that will tell me where the smart money is going.
