Still, the most powerful man on Earth should be able to just pluck whomsoever he wants from a crowd and do with him/her as he wishes - Doit de Seigneur :-)

>Good point. Except that might add that in that case it was much like an inappropriate relationship between a boss and an employee and could be considered an abuse of his position. Not impeachable though I'm sure. Perjury is illegal though and many spend time in jail for it. Yet he got away with it. That is what really bugs me. Then look at Nixon and his resignation and pardon and compare it to GWB's offenses? My gosh - I cannot believe that impeachment proceedings have not been started against GWB except perhaps everyone thinks Dick Cheney would be worse?

>>The great pity of it all is that "the most powerful man on Earth" should have HAD to go to court, and swear on oath, yadda-yadda, for getting a bit on the side. The most powerful man on Earth would have just said "Off with their heads - bugger you" and gone off for a spot of scuba diving, skiing, or just had a nice lie-in; in short, done what he pleased before and after. French presidents have been famous/infamous for having mistresses,m and staying a long time in office, and no one bats an eye-lid.

>>Like several Americans have said I don't give a toss (Though Monica did though!) what he gets up to in his spare time, so long as he doesn't lead us into unnecessary wars.
>>
>>>But it was the affair that started the whole ball rolling? Wasn't that whole very expensive congressional investigation called in order to delve into the fact that he had an affair in the oval office? I agree it was the lying that eventually gave the thing it's real impetus, but the investigation wasn't started about his lying. It was started in order to make him look bad (and of course, it succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams).
>>>
>>>>Actually, I agree with you. I think most Americans could care less whether or not he had an affair or any relationship that was innappropriate with an intern. It had no bearing on his performance as President of the U.S. The lying under oath though should have resulted in impeachment. Now, I wouldn't know where to start on what GWB has done which he should have been impeached for.
