My wife is taking it. Recently she has been complaining of a pain or discomfort in an arc from her eye near the nose over to her jaw hinge. Also she had a bad blood shot eye a few weeks ago. When she went to the doctor he sent her to an eye specialist who found some damage to her optic nerve. He is stumped as to why. He speculates possibly a serious sinus infection in the past. The other eye doctor speculated a loss of blood at some point in the past. Now that you have mentioned fosamax it seems scarily possible that she has been taking something that might be responsible for all this.

Now I wonder how we can proceed because, as you say, we would be going back to the doctor who prescribed it.
