In performing mail merges, I've found that one way to avoid the dialog that comes up and asks the user if it's ok to execute the query that pulls the mailmerge data from the data source is to create a registry entry that tells Word to skip that dialog. But on one client's network - where they run the system under Terminal Services - this does not seem to work. Additionally, I see some other unusual behavior where a dialog comes up and says the Excel file is now available for editing. This is not a dialog I've seen before. Normally, Excel is just opened in the background and closed and that's that. Has anyone seen anything like this?

UPDATE: The Excel dialog title is "File Now Available". Inside the dialog it says " is now available for editing. Choose Read-Write to open it for editing." There is a Read-Write button and a Cancel button. If I click Cancel, Excel becomes visible, but the window only partially fills in and I can still see other windows through it. At least once, when I left it there for awhile, it finally finished drawing itself.
